Victor Hobson left school at 14 and learned to weave at the local mill studying and working his way up over the following 30 years to becoming a Chartered Textiles Technologist and Fellow of the Textile Institute.
In 1987 the University of Leeds awarded him a masters degree in Philosophy as a result of work into towel weaving technology.

Do the towels shrink at all?
the towels manufactured at our mill in Barrowford (highlighted with the union flag) are sold straight from the loom and have not been subjected to any wet processes such as dying or bleaching. Therefore shrinkage of up to 10% can be expected in both length and width at the first laundering only. This acts to bind the loops more firmly into the cloth, giving the towels a fuller, thicker feel. No further shrinkage will take place on subsequent laundering .
